Maxine Beneba Clarke is the author of the acclaimed memoir The Hate Race, the award-winning short fiction collection Foreign Soil, and the poetry collections Carrying The World and How Decent Folk Behave.
Her books for children include the Boston Globe/Horn Prize winning picture book The Patchwork Bike, and the critically acclaimed illustrated poem When We Say Black Lives Matter.
Her latest children’s books are We Know A Place, and It’s The Sound of The Thing: 100 new poems for young people.
She is currently Poet in Residence at Melbourne University.
