When Nardi Simpson – who happens to be one half of the much-loved Indigenous band, Stiff Gins – released her debut novel, Song of the Crocodile in 2020, it quickly became one of the most celebrated releases of the year. Long-and shortlisted for a wealth of awards, it was described by the judges of the Stella Prize as ‘necessary reading for all Australians,’ and is an incredibly evocative and engrossing multi-generational story of racism, violence, joy and magic. This special addition to the festival will be an unmissable discussion of Nardi’s lyrical gift for storytelling.
