When we look to our collective history, what do we see?

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it, said Santayana. But history is always moving, and the lessons of the past can change with every retelling.

Has the world changed too much for history to still resonate with our everyday lives? Whose voices can we trust when it comes to describing the path between then, and now – not to mention the road ahead?

Henry Reynolds and Bruce Pascoe are major figures in how we engage with one of the most significant chapters of our history and culture; the colonisation of Australia, and the lives of those who already called this country home.

This session will discuss their pioneering work, and seek to learn if memories from the past might help shine a light on the nation we are becoming.
